and early dismissal dates are not included. If classes
are canceled, makeup days will be held June 4 and Feb.
15. If two inclement weather makeup days are needed,
the teacher preparation day scheduled for June 4 will be
on June 5. If Feb. 15 is used as an inclement weather
day, it will also become the third Teacher Choice Day
for affected staff. Calendars for the Academy of Creative
Education (ACE) and Castle Hills Elementary School are
also available on the district’s website at

It was great to see so many of you attend College Night. As a parent of two college students and a junior, I know how overwhelming the college application process is! I am sure all of you will join me in thanking the counselors for all of their hard work to provide us with so much useful information. Thank you to everyone who came early to our General Meeting. I would especially like to thank the following PTA members who volunteered to serve on the nominating committee: Terri Cirinna, Shonna Jones, Isabel Owen, Irene Pollard, Kari Sireno, and Cheri Spies. The nominating committee will post its slate of officers for 2010-2011 on the PTA website and in the March newsletter, no later than March 30. Officers will be elected at our general meeting on April 6. As an informational note, nominations for any officer position may be made from the floor at that meeting. As the spring semester heats up and your schedules go crazy, I would like to remind all of you about the scholarship opportunities PTA has to offer: PTA Scholarships and Blossom Scholarships. And don’t forget our Project Graduation registration and fundraising are well under way. Look for more information about all of these in this newsletter and on our website.
